Kate's Pirates

[Ravvij]

This is a post for an IM roleplay with one of my friends.


Xaiax moved her into a less awkward possition. "What a wierd crew." he thought.
After several hours had passed and she was awake. Xaiax had already been given every order possible by her crew and had completed them with a reasonable time.
He was working hard cleaning the inner decks at the moment. He couldn't wait to tell his captain the ideas he'd had for the ship. It would make it more efficiant for everyone aboard.

[KatDrama]

"Blah...bugger." Kate came around sometime in the morning, dazed and confused at the tarp draped over her. "Oyo..." She hiccuped and swaggered to her feet, stumbling along the deck to the wheel. She saluted the helmsman in a drunken fashion and proceeded to greet him with equally non sober language.

The crew laughed and seemed to be mightly amused at their drunkard of a captain.

Xaiax joined the men in a hearty laugh. Most of them now knew him faily well.
He went up to the captain and knelt at her feet. "Captain...I wanted to speak with you when you are feeling...in-shape for it." he requested.

[KatDrama]

"Get off yer knees you buggard." Kate swore with a cross look on her face. The ship rocked a bit and she almost tipped over, her center of balance of kelter. "Ah...set a course for me port." She said to the helmsman and downed a swig of rum.

[Ravvij]

Xaiax stood up. "As you wish." he said willingly. "I need to talk to you about..potential modifications to the ship." he inquired.
Xaiax thumbed at the butt of his pistol, obvoisly nervous.

[KatDrama]

"Speak yer mind." Kate slurred, somewhat annoyed at the man's formal attitude.

[Ravvij]

"Ma'am..." he slipped, "I have been cleaning this place since you slept and have noticed you don't have anything to make this ship self sufficient. Many of my ideas I need materials to make them and extra hands to do. A water cleaner, a...shower, and a few other things." he said.

"What's your deal?!" one man shouted, "You don't have any say in this ship's design you gutless worm!"

"Why not challenge the lad?" another said, "His ideas for a water cleaner sound good to me."

"Cap'mn?" asked the first mate.

[KatDrama]

Kate snorted a bit in response. "We be rats of the sea piers...we have no need for fancy things, though cleaner water would help stay sickness." She considered. "If you can pull it off we would welcome that..."

[Ravvij]

Xaiax smiled, he saluted her and went about the rest of his day cleaning and practicing with his sword.
"She'll need more than just clean water to cure sickness." he thought. "Maybe I should go see the cook?"

OOC: I think the cook should be female! that'd be funny as hell!

[KatDrama]

The cook was a well tanned and equally tough woman as the captain, with hair the color of sand. She was chopping up some pieces of something undistinguishable with a large butcher knife. She stopped to wipe her hands off on her not so sanitary apron. The woman looked up and noticed the boy.

"Oye...ye be the new lad, eh? Wot ye want?"

[Ravvij]

"I just wanted to see the galley." he said simply. "It'll give the captian more reason to let me duild a wash closet of some kind." he said looking at her apron.
Xaiax wasn't sure why, but he liked this cook, she seemed just as reasonable as his captain. Blunt and to the point.

[KatDrama]

The cook shook her head and clucked her tongue as she shoveled the stuff she had been cooking into a pot that she put on to boil over a low fire. "Waste clean water on washing? You haven't been at sea very long, have ye lad?"

[Ravvij]

"I had an idea for a system to clean sea water. I had one at my old home." he smiled. "Think of it. Unlimited water to cook, clean, and...bathe." the stench of these pirates was unbelievable. He almost cracked jokes about it, but knew he'd get killed or worse for it.

[KatDrama]

The cook stared at him oddly. "To drink yes, but we'd never waste water on bathing. What kind of people do you take us for?" She grinned as she took out some other weird food and began chopping it.

[Ravvij]

"The kind that stink...very badly." he said bluntly. He looked around for somthing to tie around his nose. The stench was worse in the kitchen.

[KatDrama]

"Eh, you'll loose your sense of smell soon enough." She laughed heartily, amused by the look on his face. "The name be Anne...wot be yers?"

[Ravvij]

"Xaiax." he said trying not to breath much of the humid air of the galley.
"Anne...why are you the cook? You seem better suited for something more important." he said inquiringly.

[KatDrama]

Anne stabbed her knife into the cutting board and leaned out over her counter to stare at Xaiax. "Young man...nothing is more important than the bellies of the crew. If the crew does not eat then they will die." She laughed a little as she plunked more things into the pot. She picked up a hand full of pepper and threw it in as well. "You could say I hold the very lives of the crew in my hand." She laughed heartily and winked at Xaiax.

[Ravvij]

"For some reason...that scares me." he shook a bit.
Xaiax watched her prepare the food. He tried aplying what he saw to his own recipes in his mind, but went no where with them. Finally he asked her for advice for his own cooking.

[KatDrama]

"The trick is...everything at sea is pickled or rotting...so you got to drench everything with spices to hide the taste..." She winked.

[Ravvij]

Xaiax stared at her oddly. "That's just sick." he commented. At that time he wondered what the captain might be doing.
He wandered back to the upper deck, just to have an empty barrel collide with the back of his head.

[KatDrama]

"Watch where ye be going!" Kate hollered at Xaiax. Turns out they were moving around some cargo and shifting around the weight in the ship, using the mast as a crane. Quietly though she came up beside him and slapped him on the back. "Ye be alright?"

[Ravvij]

"I hope so." he said slowly. He held the back of his head. The barrel had clipped him and made him bleed a bit.
Xaiax turned to look at her. "I think the cook is liking the idea of clean water too." he smiled, though his head still hurt.

[KatDrama]

"Hm." Kate meerley nodded, her eyes fixed on some rigging that the other pirates were working with. She shouted out some commands to them and they scurried to complete it. The top deck seemed in total chaos at the moment, but she found some time to speak with him. "So, how do you propose to do this idea of yers?"

[Ravvij]

"I need sheet metal and two pots...and some metal toobs." he said plainly. He stood up slowly, hoping he wouldn't get hit again.
